I know I’m biased, but every year, the Women in Agile conference at Agile20XX keeps getting better and better! This year, we sold out at 300 participants with a long wait list, with a significant number of people attending for the first time. Also, loved seeing all the allies in the audience.
Natalie Warnert and Cheryl Hammond kicked us off; our theme this year was Activate!
Then Becky Hartman and Paul Hammond followed with an overview of the Agile Alliance Code of Conduct, which they simplified into the following few bullets:
- Be curious and welcoming of differences
- Be kind to others
- Behave professionally
We had an amazing keynote from Stephanie Thomas, founder of Cur8able, who shared a provocative topic of fashionable apparel for those with disabilities. She shared her inspiring story of how she found this passion and mission in life, and the work that she’s doing to change and improve the world to be more inclusive for those with disabilities.
Then we moved on to The World Cafe, hosted by Yogita Dhond, which provided a wonderful interaction for all to think about and discuss opportunities to help the Women in Agile community via an interactive, “neighborhood”-type session, which produced many meaningful connections and ideas.
After The World Cafe, we moved on to the Launching New Voices portion of the program. Our three new voices this year were: Leah Burman, Nazee Hajebi and Arundhati Dutta, and our wonderful mentors were Lyssa Adkins, Mike Lowery and Faye Thompson. The new voices rocked it!
We kept the conversations going at one of the hotel bars! So much to celebrate with Women in Agile this year, below are some of the highlights:
- Achieved our 501c3 Status
- Launched the Women in Agile Podcast with Accenture/SIQ
- Many more local groups across the world and thousands of members
